I had my first date (and I'm talking about the fruit- I'd been on dates before) when I moved to NYC for college and it was love at first bite. Dates are so sweet & SO good for you. Better yet dates kept my sugar cravings away, I lost weight, gained energy & happiness as I could finally eat sweets that didn't leave me feeling guilty. Food guilt is something I struggled with for years. My junior year I began working at a smoothie & acai bowl shop. During my first shift I was shocked to discover that our acai was sweetened with sugar- over 15 grams per half cup! One day I wondered why we didn't just sweeten our products with dates. Dates are healthy, taste really good, and maybe there was a way we could drizzle the dates on the bowls like a nut butter...it turned out that there wasn't. So I made one!

Our sweet date-based spreads provide a vegan & allergen-friendly alternative to honey, dessert spreads, and nut butters. All natural and available in four fun flavors “Wanna Date?” strives to make good, clean spreads while having good, clean pun- I mean fun- safe for everyone! Spread our stuff on pancakes or toast, stir it in yogurt or oatmeal, blend it in smoothies and acai bowls, bake it in breads, eat it with cheese & crackers, on ice cream...or straight off the spoon honestly. What are the ingredients in Wanna Date?

Dates, Water, Organic Cane Sugar, Citric Acid, and either...

Cinnamon, Cocoa Powder, Pumpkin Pie Spice, or Natural Vanilla Flavor

Why aren't dates the only ingredient?

Trust us, we tried really hard to formulate Wanna Date? using only dates and spices. Turns out that, as with most fresh fruit butters & spreads, you have to lower the pH of the product using an ingredient like lemon juice or citric acid. This prevents harmful bacteria from growing (getting salmonella wouldn't be fun) and helps to make the product shelf-stable.

When we added that tiny bit of citric acid, the taste of our dates were altered. Luckily, because dates are naturally sweet, we only needed to include 2 grams of organic cane sugar in each serving to get that mind-blowing taste back. Hooray!

Note that nowadays we see so many companies just pouring sugar into their products. Some companies try to hide it with misleading labels and packaging. When it comes to Wanna Date? we believe that knowledge is power & everyone should know exactly what they are putting into their body. We're proud of the fact that we only have 2 grams of organic cane sugar in each serving! That's A-OK in our book. You can enjoy Wanna Date? and still be your healthy, amazing, super-attractive self.

Is all of that fruit sugar okay to eat?

Yes Yes Yes! Naturally occurring fruit sugar, which you’ll consume while eating dates, is not the same as refined sugar. You should limit your consumption of refined sugars; too much refined sugar (AKA eating a gallon of ice cream) can negatively impact your health. Fruits, on the other hand, contain natural sugars and you shouldn’t eat less fruit because of that. If anything, you’ll reap AMAZING health benefits by incorporating more fruit into your diet. Especially dates - they're full of beneficial vitamins, minerals, fiber, and so much more.

Is "Wanna Date?" vegan?

Because of the DATES! Dates taste great- sweet & delicious like caramel. 

What foods go well with "Wanna Date?"

Great question! Here's what we recommend putting Wanna Date? on... FRUIT like apple slices, bananas, pears, strawberries (dipped in the chocolate date spread :) GRAINY STUFF like biscuits, muffins, toast, oatmeal, sandwiches (DB&J = Date Butter & Jelly) or on pancakes & waffles! Try dipping pretzels and crackers into a jar as a snack too. COLD STUFF like yogurt, acai bowls, chia pudding, ice cream, in smoothies... BAKED STUFF like cakes, cupcakes, cookies, bars, cinnamon rolls, brownies… you can use Wanna Date? in a recipe as a sweetener, instead of oil, OR as a frosting substitute! COMBINED WITH OTHER SPREADS - Wanna Date? is really good with peanut butter, almond butter, jam, jelly… SURPRISING STUFF YOU MIGHT NOT THINK OF - Spread it on s’mores! Mix it in a salad! Sizzle it on bacon! Set it on the Thanksgiving table with cranberry sauce and gravy! Put it on a platter with cheese & crackers! Take a look at our Instagram- we wanna know your ideas!! Is it okay to eat an entire jar?

We don't not recommend it.

How should I store jars of "Wanna Date?"

Unopened "Wanna Date?" is shelf stable, but keep it refrigerated after opening. It tastes better cold anyway! 

When does my jar expire?

There is a recommended "Best By" date printed on the bottom of every jar. Technically it won’t “expire” for an additional 6 months though. It’s still good to consume!
