My grandfather kept a larger-than-necessary garden every year. Every summer would challenge us to preserve as much of the produce from the garden as possible. I grew up preserving with my grandmother. We started with strawberry jam when I was so little that my mom would get mad at my grandmother for having me on a chair that close to the stove. Ever since I’ve had an interest in food culture: in fact, I completed my master’s thesis on ancient olive oil presses. I returned to preserving five years ago, finding it to be both something I enjoy and a great way to stretch the season of a particular fruit or vegetable. Family and friends raved over jars I gave as gifts or opened to share during gatherings. After having my daughter, I realized that my more-than-full-time career managing museum collections were going to cause me to miss the time I’d prefer to spend with family. That’s when I began working with select clients to manage their private art collections. And in between, I started making small batches of preserves to sell.
I grew up surrounded by family businesses and always hoped to one day have one of my own. I love the idea of an opportunity that allows me to care for my daughter while giving me a creative outlet that brings together my professional skills, academic interests and genuine love of food. With Neat Nick Preserves, I’ve found a venture that allows me to explore, experiment and continue learning while celebrating the joy people find in jams, jellies, and preserves. We're dedicated to getting your order to you as fast as possible, so our warehouse strives to have orders processed and ready to ship within 1-2 business days (Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., EST). Common carrier deliveries range from 1 to 10 days for delivery, depending on your proximity to the shipping origin. FedEx ground shipping can take anywhere from one to seven days. All delivery times are estimates.
Shipping charges for common carrier and FedEx/UPS items are calculated by factoring in the weight, dimensions, and shipping distance.
Great care is taken when packing your order, but on rare occasions errors may occur. If there is an error with any part of your shipment, please contact us within 5 business days of receiving your order.
If any item or packaging is damaged or missing, or if you have any doubt about possible damage, you MUST do the following: Contact us within 1 business day. Keep the damaged packing materials for inspection. Take pictures of the damaged items and packaging.
All regularly stocked items may be returned to us if the item has not been used and the original packaging is intact. In order for returns to be accepted, your items must be returned within 10 days from receipt of your order. Please contact us before returning an item. We will create a return authorization for you and send you an e-mail with instructions on how to complete the return.
The return shipping fee for a standard return is the responsibility of the customer submitting the request. These fees may be applied after the return has been completed.
No credit will be given for damaged/used merchandise.
