Marcella Hazan's Tomato Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 28 oz. can of plum tomatoes
  • 5 tablespoon(s) butter
  • 1 Medium onion, peeled and halved
  • Salt, to taste

Instructions

  1. Position a correct sized Frywall in a medium sauce pan or stock pot
  2. Add the tomatoes, butter, onion, and salt
  3. Cook uncovered over medium heat for about 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Remove the onion (or leave it in) and serve over your favorite pasta. It's also perfect for other dishes like eggplant parmesan.
