What makes this sauce sassy you ask? Well, it's vegan, paleo, cheesy, super tangy, piquant, sharp and everyone likes it. It's even customizable for allergies, preferences and whatever nuts or seeds you have on hand (you can even use nut milk pulp or white beans for a cheesy bean dip!). Wouldn't you be sassy too? Whip up a batch and you just might feel a little extra sass rise up. Want to make more dairy-free cheese? Try an Urban Cheesecraft Dairy Free Cheese Kit and you'll not only have nutritional yeast, but everything else you need to make bonus vegan and paleo cheeses!

STEP 1. Gather and measure ingredients. You will also need 3/4 cup of water.

STEP 2. Peel and trim garlic.

STEP 3.  And fresh squeeze your lemon juice. These two gifts from nature are largely responsible for the addictive, sassy flavors of this sauce. Bonus, they're great for us!

lemon juice

STEP 4.  Add 3/4 cup of water to blender first.

add water

STEP 5.  Add all other "base" ingredients.

STEP 6.  Blend until nice and silky, 2 minutes in strong machines. You may have to blend longer and stop to scrape down a couple of time in less powerful machines. It will still work though ;).

blend

STEP 7.  Taste it! Yuuuuuuuummy right? But if you want to get creative and make 3 or more different flavors with one batch, divide the sauce and add the variation ingredients. I pour the whole batch into a large measuring cup with a spout and then divide it by pouring a third into the blender along with one add in at a time and blending.

three more flavors

STEP 8.  Jar up each blended flavor as you go, rinse the blender and repeat until you use up all your sauce. I eyeball thirds (they can be uneven depending on which one you like most) and you can too! You can also adjust the amount of add ins because for the most part they are not salty (pickled peppers are a little), just flavorful so there's no messing up. Come up with new flavors too!

Done! Now you're ready to get saucy and sassy with bowls, tacos, nachos, or just a little snack like I often do.

Sassy sauce makes good food better. It's just a fact.
