There is no better way to keep a baby rash free than keeping skin dry by changing diapers often, identifying food triggers, and avoiding scented or chemical based products. Rashes do sometimes occur though, and as soon as they begin, we reach for our Baby Salve.

We also use our Baby Salve as a soap free cleanser. When Ora’s babies were little and fat (and delish), she had the darndest time keeping their little necks, ankles and behind the ears from getting funky. Once she discovered the wonders of the salve strategy all those stinky folds became a thing of the past. In between baths, when cleaning is needed simply use a small amount of salve to swipe out little shmutsy rolls and folds. Wipe in, wipe out. This works as a soap free baby cleanser and a moisture barrier at the same time. Amazing!

Like all our salves, our Baby Salve Natural Baby Ointment starts with our Base Oil, which is non-GMO grapeseed oil, infused with organic and fair trade herbs calendula, comfrey, plantain, st. john’s wort, thyme, burdock and chickweed. In this Baby Salve, we go the extra mile for your baby’s skin and add anti-inflammatory organic licorice root and cold pressed castor oil into the mix. Unlike our All Purpose Salve, this one is unscented, meaning it has no essential oils, to avoid any irritation that a scent may cause to baby or to new mom. A nice deep inhale through the nose will reveal the earthy presence of herbs, organic coconut oil, domestic beeswax – and nothing else. The castor oil brings a little extra emollience and soothing properties. These differences make it ideal for babies – whether it’s on the tush, behind the ears, or in between their little rolls to help gently wipe areas clean and prevent infection.

How To Use

Scoop out a very small amount with a clean finger or cotton swab and apply over area. For cleaning inside necks and other folds, smoothe throughout area and then wipe off. For soothing and/or moisturizing, simply massage into skin. For use as a moisture barrier and rash prevention, shmear a small amount over the area and leave as you would an ointment.
