A classic fall favorite...apple pie. This American classic is a go-to for any holiday dessert and to be extra, adding vanilla ice cream...makes my mouth water just thinking about it. Any type of apple is great to use but this recipe calls for the good ole' Granny Smith and Golden Delicious but feel free to use any type of apples you wish!

- Serves: 6-8 people
Dessert Pie
Ingredients
- 2 Pie Crusts, refrigerated
- 10 Apples, peel, core and THINLY sliced
- 1 cup(s) White Sugar
- 5 tablespoon(s) Flour
- 2 teaspoon(s) Ground Cinnamon
- 2 tablespoon(s) Butter
- 3 Egg Whites
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- Place crust in pie plate
- Place the sliced apples in a bowl
- Mix the sugar, flour and cinnamon together
- Pour over the apples and mix well
- Pour the apples into the pie crust
- Top with the butter pieces
- Place other crust on top and crimp the edges (no leaks this way!)
- Use a knife to cut vent holes on top
- Brush top and edges with the egg whites and if desired, sprinkle more cinnamon and sugar on top
- Bake for 1 hour or until apples can easily be pierced with a knife
- If edges start to burn, place foil around the edges
- Of course, add some vanilla ice cream on top when finished
- Enjoy!
