We all know the nutritional benefits of eating your greens everyday, but not everyone necessarily does it. Now..we totally embrace salads and may we say... even excited?! So let us guide you and give you our tips and tricks of how to build a really good salad. (Hint: it involves granola!!)

1. Acidity

So, we need to have a balance in flavors here - we love the fresh ingredients in a salad, and these flavors sure brighten up when you put acidity into it. Squeeze a bit of lemon juice into your dressing or drizzle on some balsamic vinegar. Or how about some fermented onions?

2. Add Fat

Fat = flavor. You need fat to enhance the flavors, as well as better nutrient absorption of all the good stuff in there. Whether you use a high-quality extra virgin olive oil, toasted almonds, creamy goat cheese, shaved parmigiana... You name it.

3. Texture

Croutons have been around for a while, sure. But if you want to switch it up, we suggest you try our granola to top your salad. It's super flavorful, crunchy, and delicate - aka it won't break your teeth like some other granolas ;)

4. Sweetness

Your greens are bitter, so you might want some sweetness to balance out those vegetal flavors. Toss in some sweet black cherries, ripe strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, or heirloom tomatoes. Yum!

5. Freshness

This is huge! Buy your produce local. I've been going to the farmer's market every Sunday morning this fall and buying the freshest, most delicious, seasonal ingredients. Not only will you be supporting your local farmers, but you'll definitely taste the difference too!
